The PBDCC is a State Licensed facility which provides quality bilingual/bicultural (English & Spanish) day care services (Plainfield residents only) to approximately 69 children, predominantly Hispanic, between the ages of 2 ½ to 5. Thirty of these children (15 children in each of two classrooms) are in an Abbott Program contracted by the local Plainfield Board of Education, which provides free educational instruction for children between the ages of 3-5. A Family Worker is on staff which provides services to Abbott Families, such as parent’s workshops, home visits/conferences, and special services as needed. The Family Worker is also a liaison between the home, school and the Plainfield Public School District.

Our program’s mission is to ensure that we prepare our children in order to easily transition into the public school system and to facilitate the continued employment/and or education of their parents by providing them with a safe environment for their children where they will develop emotionally, physically, cognitively and emotionally. Children are also taken on field trips throughout the year where they are exposed to parks, libraries, museums, zoos, local fire departments, and walks in and around our neighborhood and community agencies and offices.

The Center’s hours are from 7AM-5PM, and we are open year-round except for holidays with a highly motivated certified teaching staff of 4 Lead Teachers, 4 Teacher Assistants, Cook, Administrative Assistant and Director. Additionally, as well as educational instruction, health and dental screening, the children are provided with a nutritious breakfast, lunch and pm snack prepared and served family style by our resident cook. (Sponsored by the NJ Dept of Education Child & Adult Food Program) Whenever necessary the parents are referred to other local city agencies for health, job fairs, community food bank, clothing drive, public assistance, family counseling, etc..

Furthermore, the parents are provided with workshops throughout the school year where the topics range from Discipline to Building Self Image.
