The Municipal Court has jurisdiction over cases within their territorial jurisdiction, including violations of municipal ordinance, violations or motor vehicle and traffic laws, disorderly person's offenses, petty disorderly person's offenses and other non-indictable offenses, except where exclusive jurisdiction is given to the Superior Court. Also included within this jurisdiction are violations of fish and game laws and weights and measures.
* * * All persons entering the Municipal Court will be required to pass through a metal detector. Any person(s) with medical conditions that would be affected by the metal detector are asked to enter through the Plainfield Police Station entrance on East Fourth Street. * * *

The violations payment windows is open to the public from 9:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. Monday - Friday. If unable to make a payment at our violation window and you do not wish to use the regular mail, you are welcome to drop the payment in the drop-box located in the lobby of the Police Department. Payments can be made by credit card (VISA and MasterCard only), however, they must be made in person. Credit card payments are not accepted over the phone.
Court is held Monday thru Friday beginning at 9:00 A.M.
Night court is held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday beginning at 7:00 P.M. |
